Humans affect the desert in many ways. Read on so that you can see some of the ways, postive and negitive.
One good way humans affect it is by creating national parks out of them. This means if you hunt, or kill plants and animals without government permission you will be prosecuted. That way people won't cause any species' extinction because we are protacting them. The Sonoran Desert has been made into a national park to protect the speicies from humans. This way we won't cause any unnatural changes and the desert can stay the way it is supposed to.
The Desert Tortoise is ranked threated on the Endangered Speices Act. This is because of many reasons, which include habbitat loss, more predators, a decline in helpful items in the wild, and illness. Humans play a big role in the decline of theses animals as well, examples are: taking the animals as pets, running over them in cars, eating them, and using them for commercal trade. I think we can solve this problem by enforsing hursher laws on people who hurt endangered animals. Another way is not creating a bussiness for the people sell them, if the is no market there is no need for the supply. Also DO NOT take them out of the wild.
Another endangered species is the Ovis candensis, the desert bighorn sheep. Humans have hurt it's habitat, it has been hit by diesease and it doesn't adapt very well to new surroundings. We need to step in and prevent them from dying out. We could do this by making parks out of their habitat and stop people from going in. Also we could alert some environmentalists and they would be willing to supply most of the money. Also we could vaccinate the sheep to stop them from getting sick. These sheep are worth saving so we should save them.
Stealing cacti is a big proplem in some deserts. People take the biggest and oldest cactus they can find and take it. Thay sell these to homeowners, for 1,000 dollars. The Homeowners place the cactus in there yard for decoraction. The National Park Service plans to place micro chips in the plants so they can find the locaton of the cactus and fine the law breakers.
